May 4th Tour de Yorkshire mens race stage 2
Only just got round to putting this on today Saturday, but what a great day.
We watched the ladies race on TV in the morning until they were coming through Castleford then went to the bottom of the street to watch them as they came past, then went back to watch the rest of the race. Did the same in the afternoon with the mens race, It was great to see so many people turn out to cheer them on the atmosphere was so infectious everybody was chatting and laughing. They did go by in a swoosh especially as they were coming down a rather steep hill to pass the bottom of the street, but it was something to remember. (to those who watched it on TV) That finish up to the Cow and Calf rocks was a real killer wasn't it
In the morning all the children from the local school had been brought out and lined the route to cheer and the old peoples home round the corner had brought as many of their residents as could get out in their wheelchairs and in the afternoon too. Of course the kids were home for the mens afternoon race so they were with their parents.
Everyone on our Village facebook was talking about it too. The beautiful aerial shots of Yorkshire have been so eyecatching too.
There were lots of activities in the village too, but I didn't bother going up I just went home to watch it on TV as I knew I would be going up later to Friday Feeling.
My son and the girls are going somewhere Sunday to watch stage 4 tomorrow before going to the Narrow Boat Gala at Skipton.
