What made them write this song? Who uses a payphone any more?

Last time I looked in one there was a screen for sending texts....

Payphones used to be the social media app of the time. You stood in them with your mates, to keep out of the rain and the cold. You pressed and A and B buttons to see if any change would be come out the slots. You phoned home, two rings to let them know you were heading for the bus.

You phoned your friends coded rings so that they knew where you were, or whether they were to phone you back.

They had little shelves you could sit in. You could phone random numbers and say silly things. You could phone the phone box next door and watch people come in and answer it, and try not to giggle helplessly, or talk so loud that they knew it was you next door.

Wow. They were the best fun ever. Bring Back Payphones, and Get Rid of Mobiles!!!

PS Nothing makes you feel loved like a big bloody steak sandwich.
