....and so the cycle repeats itself. There are lots of herring gulls nesting in the cliffs off Dunbar harbour. It's pretty obvious what's happening here. Normally they only take one mate but this male bird looks as if he might have a couple of partners. The extra shows a gull pair on a nearby rocky pinnacle just after they have changed their brood roles. It's difficult to tell which is the male and which is the female but the male is usually the larger bird so I think it is probably the one who has taken over sitting on the egg(s).
