Acer

This acer has been in a pot for over 20 years, and despite periodic re-potting is showing signs of losing its vigour. Each year a few twigs die off, although new ones grow as well, so any decline seems very slow. But it has lost one major branch and is now lopsided as a result. Really, I think it wants to be a small tree, but I'm not sure whether planting it out in the garden would work now. The leaf colour is spectacular right through to leaf-drop, so long as it doesn't get too much sun, or get too dry.
