Voodoo Lily

There was a funny smell in my kitchen when I returned from a Morrisons and recycling  trip out. I'd left a cabbage in a bowl of water to revive it before giving it to the hens, I'd taken it out of the water before I left. Deciding the cabbage water must be lurking in the pipes I poured soda crystals down the plughole followed by hot water. I then went for a lie down as my digestive system was in turmoil and the trip out had been done by sheer will power.
On returning downstairs the smell was still there. So I checked the litter trays. Nope - both fine. The smell seemed stronger in the conservatory where the pipes run through, so poured more hot water down the drain. As I laid out my yoga mat I got an even stronger smell and realised it was of course my Voodoo Lily!! I've been waiting years for the bulb to grow big enough to flower and have been really excited watching it growl and unfurl, now I really wish it hadn't! It's not really a thing of beauty - more one of interest. It's also known as devil's tongue! It looks to me as if it has emerged from some primeval swamp! You can see it's real size here. Down the bottom of the long spadex  are little white patches which I presume is what is exuding the awful smell. It was put out in the garden for the remainder of the day - strangely no insects seem to be attracted by it's smell - described by some sites as rotting meat! Stagnant cabbage water would also describe it! I have some bulbs if anyone wants one?!!!!
