Diary of an Edinburgher

Old photo!

This is my favourite old photo, circa 1966. That's my mum on the left, and my favourite Auntie Etta. She married mum's brother, but they were like sisters. On car journeys, they'd sing all the way, and they were always laughing.

This was the wedding of my big brother. He 'had to get married' - as you did in those days - but he was still at school. It caused quite a scandal in our wee town, especially as my father was a high school teacher, and mum was in the church choir (pillars of the community). She was heartbroken, but put a very brave face on, as you can see.

She was wearing a royal blue velvet dress, with pink hat and gloves. And a real fox fur throw thingie (sorry, Fineen). It used to hang in her wardrobe, and every now and again I’d look in to see the fox face with its button eyes and scare myself.

This is a photo taken today of an old photo, in protest over BlipCentral's heavy handed treatment of Cailleach.

OF COURSE we can post an old photo. After all, it's our journal. The only rule to obey is 'Don’t be offensive'.
