Adios
This is the day that Mrs Bootneck finally retires. She is hanging up her suits, white coats, wellies, crash gear, you name it, it has been hung up!
In her time as a Coroner's Officer she has met some wonderful live people, assisted thousands of bereaved relatives, explained why the post-mortem she has just attended was necessary, cried as a baby has been admitted to the sterile world of the mortuary, then set up a sequence whereby the poor mite is placed in a crib. She has been physically and verbally attacked by some rather nasty members of the public, wealthy and poor, who consider themselves beyond the law.
Above all she has been a calm, understanding, caring and compassionate member of our Police support services, until she was let down by the system and it all got too much.
Now she needs care. Mrs Booty is recovering slowly, I'm unsure whether I'm a help or hindrance but I do make a really good cup of 4 star coffee. At least she can now look forward to caring for our grandsons and if she is really lucky she will be able to carry the bag containing my marbles.
If you ever think about early retirement and do the calculations it is surprising that the daily grind may not actually be worth the gold. :-)))
RANT:
We know it's half term, we know there are vizturs on the roads. How? Well when "we" (those of us fortunate enough to live in this neck of the woods) let a car pass or are let through a gap we wave and say thanks. So why the dour rude road manners that also come on holidays. Please deposit them at Exeter Services and collect them on the way home.
Nothing to see here, move along now, move along madam. On second thoughts you can stay. :-))
