The woods are on fire!

If yesterday was spring, then today must be . . . . . something else. Dull and wet, though not cold. Just a bit depressing, I suppose. 

This pieris, P. 'Forest Flame', is as common as muck around here, most gardens having one. With good reason though, as it's spectacular. When I took this picture through the living room window earlier I was disappointed that the new foliage didn't glow with the same intensity as the real thing, so had to boost it a little. It's still not quite as good however.

Never mind, it's a welcome sight on a miserable day, as are the pansies in a pot at the front door, my extra for today.
