The Oystercatcher
This morning my friend Tim and I set off for the Isle of Bute to join in the annual BPS help day at the Ascog Victorian Fernery tomorrow. The BPS is the British Pteridological Society, the oldest fern society in the world. We had a lovely drive down through Cowal, stopped to investigate Old Lachlan Castle and stopped again for lunch at this lovely old pub at Otter Ferry, the Oystercatcher.
We then went on to catch the ferry over to Bute and thence to Rothesay. I have been to Rothesay before, but was most impressed by the lovely seaside gardens, with immaculate flowerbeds and beautiful fountain. If Rothesay can do it, why not Oban? Nuff said.
