It was raining

It was raining in London . . . and it rained and rained. And not only did it rain, but it was windy and cold. I know . . . everyone else had a lovely day of sunshine and blue skies. I know, because we arrived back to that very thing.

But in London it was raining. So, the planned walk on Hampstead Heath was an obvious non-starter. Instead, we went to the British Library, by bus of course, and we joined the queue of people waiting to get in to grab themselves a seat from which to do their writing, research, or whatever it is they do.

Gordon went to an exhibition that has just started - James Cook: The Voyages. (He said it was excellent, but then he knows a lot about Cook; we have visited places around the world connected to him and he has read many books about him. So this was a real treat.) I went to my favourite place - the lightest, quietest, most congenial café you could hope for, with the best coffee - the British Library's Terrace Restaurant. One can sit there for a very long time, order the occasional cup of coffee and read a book.

Eventually, we walked across to Kings Cross and caught the train home.

Thank you to all those blippers who stopped by for my Blipday and left kind messages, stars and hearts. I really appreciate it.
