Pond Life

The pond weed is starting its annual take-over bid - and I can't start my annual battle with it until these chaps have become more established and more likely to swim away from the net.
I am really surprised that there are any tadpoles let alone the multitudes since the spawn arrived before the last hard frost which froze it into the ice (spawn is not meant to survive being frozen).

I had just finished my late morning coffee when H arrived asking if I could fix one of his wooden garden chairs.
One of the wooden 'pins' which also act as a hinge had broken.
So a few minutes with a drill to clean up the holes and a spot of turning he had a new pin made and fitted.
This one wont jam or rot (not before the chair rots anyway), it is made of Lignum Vitae ....... an oily self lubricating hardwood which used to be used to make block and tackle for sailing ships and bearings for the first propellers (damned expensive as well)

After dropping Squirrel off and gymnastics it was round to The Larder for lunch.
We had just ordered and sat down when we were handed an invitation to the AGM of the charity that runs the place (and is opening another) ..... as regular customers!
It will be interesting to get some more information on the charity and what they do in and for the community so we have put our names down as attending. Apparently the students will be doing lunch for us as well.

The Cygnet had a bit of a  huge melt down before we took him and his sister home. All because he could get through some game on SWMBO's tablet.
He had another one when we got him home because he didn't like being told that "we did" is the correct grammer - not "we done". As I walked out I think he was about to be thrown in his bed by his mother.
