I could have really easily kept the curtains shut today and not moved but I didn't, I got up and got out of the house. Oh god...I wish I hadn't.
I was walking along Princes Street after blipping in St Cuthberts Graveyard and the gardens, when I saw this man run across Princes Street. The next minute a bus seem to come out of nowhere and hit him. He flew into the air and seemed to bounce a few times before landing in the middle of the street. It was awful.
People started to run over, others stood in disbelief, others, myself included stood in tears not able to move.
The driver emerged from the bus, obviously very shaken, and just collapsed in a heap.
It took minutes for an ambulance to arrive and he was quickly transferred and away it went.
Anyone aware of Edinburgh and the trams, will know that the roads are in a mess and there are diversions and lanes closed everywhere. Starting this week Princes Street joins this chaos, and I can't help but think that this accident was just that, because of all the disruptions-no-one knows where to be looking for buses.
I can't stop replaying it in my head and crying, I feel so sick...I just can't imagine what the bus driver is feeling.
Edit - I have just been on the local radio station news site and apparently the gentleman has suffered head injuries, but not seriously hurt. It is the 3rd accident in 10 days, because of all the roadworks.
