Chanonry Point.

Having spent a comfortable if windy night we readied ourselves for Heading to Chanondry point to try to see Dolphins.  We arrived and it was blowing the proverbial Hooley!  However there were a group of people further along the beach and we had been told follow the croud they willknow where to watch.

Sure enough when we wandered along there were the dolphins.  Chanondry poin t is said to be the best place in the world to watch Dolphins from the land.  Certainly they were quite close in, but unfortunately not leaping out of the water just coming to the surface and half the animal showing.  The tide was comming in and if you were too intent on the dolphins and your camera it was lapping round your feet before you noticed.  

Eventually there were only 6 of us left and the Dolphins were showing less so we headed for Loch Ness for lunch.  We found a lovely forest centre and sat out in the sun, which was amazing as on the beach there were times when we were almost blown over.

From there we headed to Loch Ruthevn where 45 years ago I had watched Slavoinian Grebes when it was still a very hush hush breeding site.  Now it is an RSPB reserve, but it was too choppy to see any grebes.From there it was back to the caravan park.
