Fun on the dunes

The weather forecast was grim for here today so I decided that I would have a day out with the dogs on the east coast where it was due to be drier. I eventually found my way to a National Nature Reserve just north of St Andrews called Tentsmuir which had been recommended by friends. It is essentially an old forested area of about 50 square miles bordered by the sea and shifting sands with many paths, rolling dunes and a good array of wildlife. We had a wonderful 2 hour walk but although I took a number of shots the light was really poor as although dry it was still a very dull day, and the results were disappointing. Therefore I have chosen this one showing Cara and Bruce having a wonderful time chasing each other down one of the many sand dunes.

Next time I will take a picnic and binoculars with me and explore for a longer time as the forest looks enchanting and I am sure there will be an interesting variety of wildlife to see on the water. Today I saw a curlew at the water's edge and a family of swans with three cygnets still in their grey plumage. Cara was intrigued and started to wade out to them but I wasn't sure what her reception would be from the parents so managed to call her back.

The dogs and I were very hungry and tired by the time we arrived home, plus there was Strictly and Downton to watch so I am afraid I have not caught up with many journals today. I hope your weekend was good though.
