RSNO

Enjoyed a special night at the Usher Hall - took dad to see (hear) the RSNO perform to film clips of Gene Kelly.

Quite amazing, what a dancer, choreographer and director he was. Kelly’s widow Patricia was there to introduce the clips and tell lovely stories about the man and his routines. We saw familiar dances like the one with Jerry mouse (filmed with GK imagining where Jerry would be then over 3800 individual hand painted cells added later ... wow), the 17 minute ballet from ‘American in Paris’, Brigadoon (with 6 bagpipers) etc and some lesser known ones. The finale was of course the utterly joyful ‘Singing in the Rain’.

All with the full 60+ musicians on stage playing superbly.

We thoroughly enjoyed it and dad was delighted. They don’t make them like that anymore!
