Eglise Saint Georges

I spent most of the day in meetings and negotiations at the Mairie to finalise the terms of the contract for the installation of the bells.  The notaire has taken ages and has not made a very good job of the document and it will need some revisions. While I was at the Mairie, I was hijacked by the Maire and his deputies who suggested we might like to buy back the church which we sold for €1 to them in 2008.  They want to reduce their expenditure but the church has no interest in buying it back as we would then have to pay the taxes and upkeep. At the moment the church has shared use for concerts, local events and services.  Fortunately the original contract says that the church cannot be sold so their idea is a non starter.  The bells will be installed in the empty tower visible in the photo.
