Apparently, it is part of an old track which led from Bristol to Horfield and beyond to Charlton Compton, Pilning and Aust.

This may not be true.

It is, however, quite steep. It does lead to Gloucester Road and it did allow us to make our way to buy ingredients for some lunchtime Quesadillas. Get us straying away from beans on toast!

A bit of browsing reminded me I'd been up this way before!
