Flyby
Didn't get much sleep only a couple of hours! The honey badgers were back three times in the night looking for food and sniffing around the tent. Finally managed to get rid of them when I sprayed bug killer under the tent flap where they were sniffing. Next came the hyenas chasing after them.
Wake up call came at 4.30am for the hot air balloon ride. We were picked up by the driver at 5 and taken on a bit of a night safari to the launch site.
Had a great hot air balloon ride over the plains seeing elephants, buffalo, impala, a couple of eagles killing a guinnie fowl and we had a fly-by by another eagle. Nice way to end the holiday even if I wasn't too happy at the highest points of the trip.
Landed close to a herd of Buffalo and we were collected by the jeep. On the way back we met a very nice lady from Australia who was over for an art trip but on her own as the rest of her fellow travellers thought the balloon ride was too expensive. Turned out her husband thought the same thing but he was back at home and didn't know about it. She was also a fellow blipper.
After a great breakfast with 3 glasses of champagne we met up with J & A for the trip back. Don't remember much as I fell asleep for 90 minutes once we got on the tarmac. Nice to be back on proper roads again.
Had a nice lunch in a hotel near the airport before getting the flight to Zanzibar. We were collected at the airport and taken to the bungalow's that are right on the reef edge. On the way back we asked how far it was to go a see the monkeys on the island. 10 minutes later the taxi driver handed me his phone and asked me to speak to the guy on the other end. Turned out to be his mate trying to sell us a trip to the monkeys as the driver had phoned him to tell him we were interested. Talk about the hard sell. He got told where to go in no uncertain terms.
Arrive at the bungalows we will be staying in for the next few days which seem nice. Great to have a bath and rinse of some of my clothes that the badgers had been through
Had some nice local food for dinner as it was there night for that and went to bed to catch up on some sleep.
