We're safely in New Zealand, but neither of us slept much en route.

We messed around at the airport on arrival, buying a SIM card (and subsequently a phone to put it in, since both our phones are locked to Vodafone UK), a Road Atlas, and a coffee, whilst contacting our Airbnb to make sure we could check in early. Having received confirmation it was OK, we got a taxi and got there just before lunch. We popped out almost immediately to buy a few essentials - tea bags and coffee, plus tonic for the duty free gin.

Then back for a rest and a shower, with the intention of going for a longer walk later. But it started to rain, and we were flagging, so in the end we just went down the road for an early dinner, and will be retiring to bed very shortly.

It's amazing what you find in people's back yards, isn't it?
