Chaffinch

We were helping at an orienteering event organised by our Club on Baildon Moor today, but I didn't get any orienteering blips as we were running registration in a location remote from the moor.  Tony was out early to help Tony #2 check controls so I cycled over to Baildon and spent a sociable morning before cycling home.  It's been a while since I've been on the bike so the bath was very welcome and has helped to ease stiff legs.

The sparrowhawk flew through the elder tree as I was focused on a greedy squirrel in the branches.   I only saw the hawk as it sped away but I knew it had been through the tree because of the commotion.  Even the squirrel disappeared!

Later as the sun dipped below the horizon, a group of chaffinches arrived for a last forage and I quite liked this one keeping an eye for an opening on the feeders with the buds beginning to appear on the branch.
