I made a mistake and no one knew about it! Yay!
Months ago, possibly more than a year ago, there was a really really bad thunderstorm and snow storm and probably more rain that all happened within the span of one or two weeks between one another. Although I felt cold and wet as a person traveling in the world during that time, my ceiling felt it worse. My poor bedroom ceiling. It felt it so hard that it started to fall apart.
I called my super, who informed me that the roof of the building was messed up from the same storm so he couldn't fix my ceiling until that got fixed first. He was waiting on the landlord to get the roof fixed. Flash forward to sometime earlier this school year (October? November?). My poor Super, Luis, got very very sick and had to stop working indefinitely. My building got a new super. I was so impressed that as soon as he was appointed he went to introduce himself to every person in the building. He asked if there was anything that needed to be fixed and of course there was; the mold in the bathroom, my falling ceiling, and my inability to keep my apartment clean .
He was able to get rid of the mold quickly soon after, but he told me that the ceiling would likely take an entire day and so I needed to either take-off from work (definitely a no-no), or wait till vacation.
I opted to wait. It wasn't that bad.
December break rolls around and we agree to get it fixed then.
But then the worst happens. I get sad (as I often do), and was at Jason's apartment. I couldn't move....
Who knows what happened that day. Did Rudy come to my apartment? Did he knock and then leave when no one answered? Did he try to call, but from a different number so I didn't answer?
I have no idea.
What I do know though, is that today of all days, he rings my buzzer, and asks if I would be here today and if he could fix my ceiling. One of his guys said he saw that I was home. I didn't remind him, or mention anything when I would see him. It was the best and definitely reinforcing some bad habits (leave a problem alone long enough and someone else will fix it).
But regardless of the why or how, a tiny miracle happened and my ceiling got fixed, and there was paint everything and dripping down the walls in the process and I had to move everything out of my bedroom within a matter of 10-15 minutes. BUT I worked on my tenure binder all day, (because what else would I do while someone is in my bedroom doing manual labor??), and I was super productive!
Yay!
