Sizes of Love

Like large rose or small flower
Love comes in all sizes
Sometimes it comes openly
Sometimes it's wearing disguises

Love can strike you down
In a heart-stopping instance
Yet sometimes it takes its time
As though it comes from a distance

Love can start with a friendship
And grow up in stages
Like a story in a book
Spreads throughout its pages

Love can grow and fade
And change its comely face
From coldness to joy and back
All within a short time's space

Love can burst forth into life
As blossom from bud on tree
And take its victims by surprise
As its coming they did not see

Love is ever the master
That can lead friends a lively dance
And turn them into lovers
Given the slightest chance
