Princess's resting place

Princess Joanna, daughter of King James 1 of Scotland, is buried in the ruined apse of St Nicholas Buccleuch Church in Dalkeith. For over 600 years there has been a church here but the apse was walled off from the rest of the church in 1590 following the Reformation. In common with many churches in Victorian times much of the interior was altered in 1854.
