Spring Trail
After a session at the playground, an Easter Egg hunt round the house and several more activities, we all went for lunch at the Bridge Bistro - excellent as usual. Then we went on to Acorn Bank, as we are not sure of the weather for the rest of the week. And this time we were not in search of gypsum, but on a Spring Trail.
Acorn Bank have had the courage to say no to the Cadbury's Easter Egg Trails that other National Trust properties offer for this weekend. Instead they have created a much more imaginative trail that involves children spotting beautifully crafted metal creatures dotted around the ground and matching them up with the information about the creature and its eggs on a trail sheet. Here they are recording one of them outside the mill. The youngest had spotted this one first and was waiting for the older two to catch up, before they all set off down the path to find the next one. Some of them were hard to spot as they blended so well into the environment. The first extra is an example of these lovely pieces.
At the end they could return to the House and make themselves a badge - see the second extra. How much better was that than a little chocolate egg, when they had had so many already. A lovely, busy day. Just wondering what the weather will bring tomorrow.
