Alexander Schreiner
Alexander Schreiner was the organist at the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City for many years. You can listen to one of his performances here. A few years ago, I became acquainted with his daughter, Gretchen. She came into the yarn shop on 25th Street where I work. She is a knitter and needlepointer. We have become very close friends over the past few years. She is a very special lady. I idolized her father and his skill on the organ, and listened to his radio broadcasts on Sunday evening for many years. He is part of the reason that I learned to play the organ. The combination of his artistry and the great organ in the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City is superb! I wish I had known Gretchen when her father was alive. Today, she brought me this CD of some of his best works. This is one that the family had made for their posterity. I felt very privileged to receive a copy. It is one I will cherish forever. Some gifts are just priceless.
