Cumbria Here I Come

By marpaul

Up and out early this morning to beat the crowds!  Worked a treat.  Walked along the track at the foot of Cat Bells and the plan was to walk to Little Town and have a coffee there, so why did I end up going up Cat Bells :)  Haven't been up there for 10 years!  Got to a point in the track where Cat Bells was left and Little Town was right, so thought go on why not turn left.  I'd heard that this route was easier than the track everybody else uses.  It is.  So here is madam Misty having a rest and posing for me from the summit.  I'd forgotten how spectacular the views are from the top.  Lots of fresh snow on the fell tops too.

Back to the car via Cat Bells terrace.  Lots and lots of people about by then.  But I do wonder why people ignore closed footpath signs stating Erosion Control please help us fix the fells by sticking to the main path.  Watched a group of around 20 people walking around a fenced off footpath before heading up the fell on the closed path.  Same again further along the path.  All the cars parked on double yellow lines on the road leading to Cat Bells had parking tickets!   Stopped off at Bassenthwaite on the way home for Misty to have a paddle.  But some people there wanted her to swim, so swim she did and loved every minute of it.  She's now fast asleep :)  Two more in extras.
