Bright sunshine
Another beautiful day of wall-to-wall sunshine. Best enjoyed on an island. So it was a return visit to Suomenlinna where we were disappointed that Cafe Silo was closed, but none the less we had an amazing time with R and Z wandering around, especially on the west wide of Susisaari, facing over towards Eiranranta. It was much icier in the harbour and on the sea than when we crossed over on Tuesday, but down around the south west side the sea was more or less clear of ice and we had large parts of the shoreline to ourselves. It was absolutely glorious, clambering over rocks and staring out to sea.
Back on the mainland, inevitably we took the girls to Alfons, and then we came back here. There was supposed to be an evening excursion to Seurasaari, where there were to be Easter bonfires. However, the buses went past full to the gunnels, and not stopping at the local stop. So we decided to give up on that idea (it being too far to walk), and came back here to enjoy a glass of wine, a video call with norfolkdoc, Mignon eggs, and lots of chats about this and that. But around sunset there was a bonus image visible from the 10th floor window, which was that the sun was setting over Seurasaari and the bonfire smoke was clearly visible.
