At the Secret Lake THEY'RE BACK!
A little jewel in the urban wasteland of Levenshulme, Manchester, and sadly not so secret as it once what, with the edges used by flytippers. Not that the birds seem to mind. Last year Sarah and I were thrilled to see the noblest of birds, the Great Crested Grebe sitting on a nest in the lake with 4 large eggs. Sadly that nest nor two subsequent attempts survived, and the grebes were gone, we thought forever. But a pair have returned to our great joy and surprise. I'll keep you posted on their progress.
