2018 Saturday — Just Married!

They don’t look like a bride & groom, but they are.

Wally and Jenn had phoned to tell us they were coming to southern California from Big Pine, which is in the eastern Sierras. Jenn had a doctor’s appointment in Laguna Niguel on Friday. Wally has just retired, they are getting ready to move to Oregon, just above the California border, and they want to get married.

All they wanted was to make it legal; no dress, no tux, no flowers, and we were the only friends there and they did exchange rings. Wally owns an airplane and loves to fly, so he said let’s do it at the airport. So that is where this photo was taken.

There must be thirty years difference in their age; when we were kids age mattered, now probably not so much. We were with them two-and-a-half years ago in Cayucos, and they had been together a long time then; we kind of think their marriage will last until the “death due us part” happens.

When Mr. Fun and Wally we’re in jr. high school, they were best buddies, and they probably got in more trouble together than anyone could imagine. Wally’s family moved to Riverside when the guys entered high school, but fortunately they remained friends.

We didn’t even spend an hour with them this morning before they needed to hit the road and head for Big Pine. The time we spent was good, very good.
