Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2017 Friday -- Small Gets Big

A new iPhone was not on my budget's current agenda. When my iPhone 5 died Monday, I felt handicapped.

Monday evening the Apple rep told us by phone call that it would be five o'clock Thursday evening before we could have an appointment with them to get a diagnosis of my phone. After a restless night of sleep, the next morning I told Mr. Fun that I could not function effectively till Thursday without a phone, and then I promptly left for school without my glasses. That multiplied my potential for a bad day. Egads!

Tuesday morning after I left for school, thankfully, Mr. Fun packed-up my laptop, my broken iPhone, and headed to the Apple Store. They did not have a trade-in phone; otherwise, that would have been a mere $75.

So, he purchased me a new iPhone SE with a memory of 64GB, and with the option of returning it within 14 days to upgrade to an SE with 128GB memory, which would be available Friday. AND that is what we did today--traded it in because for $50 more I could have a device with twice the memory.

Here's what the Apple folks explain about this new model:
"Welcome to iPhone SE, the most powerful 4‑inch phone ever. To create it, we started with a beloved design, then reinvented it from the inside out. The A9 is the same advanced chip used in iPhone 6s. The 12‑megapixel camera captures incredible photos and 4K videos. And Live Photos bring your images to life. The result is an iPhone that looks small. But lives large."

"At the core of iPhone SE is the A9, the same advanced chip that’s in iPhone 6s. With 64‑bit desktop-class architecture, the A9 chip brings you spectacular speed and responsiveness. And with console-class graphics performance, your favorite games and apps are incredibly rich and immersive. Making it a mighty chip for maximum performance."

"Super efficient motion coprocessor. Embedded directly into the A9 chip, the M9 motion coprocessor connects to the accelerometer, compass, and gyroscope for a range of fitness tracking capabilities, such as measuring your steps and distance. It also makes it easy to activate Siri by simply saying “Hey Siri,” without having to pick up your iPhone."

That is my story of my new IPhone and my Friday.
