Watching the seals
It was a mix of sun and clouds in the morning, so after a pancake breakfast, we headed down to Burgoyne Bay. We enjoyed a few minutes of sun on our faces, sitting in one of the old buildings, and I spotted a golden jewel beetle (see extra) on a blade of grass. G put it on his finger so I could get a decent shot. We then walked down the trail. We had a short conversations with one of the guys who lives on a boat in the bay then another conversation with a couple from Red Deer who were visiting the island for a week. Lots of ducks and seagulls, and there were 10 seals floating around. Renata and Kalyn enjoyed looking at them through the binoculars. The sun disappeared and it was chilly as the wind picked up and it started to rain. A relaxing afternoon, looking at some of Renata's baby photos and an album I'd put together of Kalyn and Krista's photos from school, with Santa, and with their sports teams. Fun to look at them together. More crib (I skunked Kalyn twice, so we're now 3-2 for her in the best out of 7 - competitive, us? Nah!), supper, then the Junos. I'd really been looking forward to the show and was disappointed with the sound quality and such few performances, but the tribute to Gord Downey was beautiful and it was awesome to see the Barenaked Ladies reunited. Have to love If I Had a Million Dollars!
Another fine day with two of our girls. The time goes by quickly anyway but definitely goes by far too quickly when they visit. They're heading home in the morning.
