In the rushes.
As I was finishing off the stables this evening I happened to see this little Moorhen on her nest. We always know the area where she nests but rarely spot her as they do quite a good job of camouflaging the next. I just noticed the little flash of the red beak. This pair usually raise at least two broods and sometimes in a good year three. Despite the proximity to us they are always very nervous and will sneak around the garden to reach the bird table where they feast on the fallen seed. Let’s hope this is a good year for them
Talking of the weather I see that we are predicted a cold and wet or even snowy Easter. This will mean no horses out yet and therefore more stables to muck out. For us this is an irritation but for the farmers it will mean a late spring which is always difficult. No cattle out early this year I fear.
Mrs V and I headed to do a big shop for her and for me . We headed it into one trolly and I think the till girl must have thought we were feeding the 5000! This shop will do her for a month which means it will make life easier for her.
We had a lovely evening last out catching up on old friends. We are out again at a 70th this evening! This crazy social life we lead!!
