Zombies on the train*
Jayzus.
Mornings don't get much more full on than this one.
On top of the usual rush to have them fed, dressed, shipped to the train station (without forgetting the bags, swimming pool bags or freshly packed lunch boxes), we had new items on the agenda this morning:
- open Mimi's right eye (I'm not that good at make-up. Her eye is half closed due to conjunctivitis)
- improvise a costume for Luca in 7 minutes and 12 scissor cuts
- decorate the chocolate brownies
- find Euro coins for them to buy (lesser) cakes from the cakes-for-Africa stall (they are not actually sending the cakes to Africa but the proceeds of the cake sale, but the PTA ignored my suggestion to have the event renamed proceeds-of-the-cake-sale-for-Africa. Not sending the actual cake is actually a good idea as I would not want to be held responsible for a new outbreak of conjunctivitis in Uganda - they have enough on their plate - not literally, unfortunately)
- make a sticker for the chocolate brownies tray to be returned to Mimi in Senior Infants (Luca is far too unreliable to be entrusted with such a mission
- find a suitable bag for the brownies tray
- take the brownies tray along with us
- pack the face paint to apply on their faces (avoiding the conjunctivitic eye) while on the train
We of course missed our usually train and only made it onto the even-more-packed one by the skin of our zombie teeth.
The faces were painted, the brownies safely delivered and the kids made it to an assembly hall that looked like a scene from the apocalypse (and that's even before anyone bought a conjunctivitis brownie).
I just about made my Dart back to Dun Laoghaire and got in at work at 10.00 am sharp.
I feel like it is 6 pm already.
It ain't.
I am just starting a long day of copying and pasting.
I look like a zombie. And there was no need for any make-up...
