We are Norwich

Attended a public meeting this evening hosted by 'We Are Norwich', a broad coalition committed to fighting racism and fascism in Norfolk. Over 100 people attended to hear speakers, air their views and concerns about the planned demonstration by the EDL (English Defence League) in Norwich on 10th November and discuss plans for a counter demonstration.

The message was loud and clear from speakers on the platform and from the floor: whatever our personal differences, we are united on one thing: the EDL are NOT welcome in Norwich.

The EDL are planning a demonstration in Walthamstow this coming Saturday. They're not welcome there, either, and myself and colleagues from Norwich and elsewhere are going down to join the counter demonstration there.
