Maintaining high standards

Fortnum and Mason have great traditions and it is always special to pay them a visit.

Braving snow to head for the Royal Academy for the “Charles I King and Collector” Exhibition, it made sense to start with a trip to The Parlour. They serve their coffees with a teeny weeny ice cream, and lashings of style.

In the food hall, I spotted this young gentleman, dressed immaculately for work, so I cheekily asked him to pose for me.

A fabulous day, with lunch at the nearby Cafe Murano 33, chef Angela Hartnett’s second restaurant.

And we missed the worst of the blizzards.
