Not a sausage...

... or a bird.

Ok - so, I've been inspired somewhat by the shots that kayakgirl has been getting of birds - if you've not seen these yet check them out ...

And I've watched some of the BBC David Attenborough "making of" films, and I understand that patience is key.

So, I set up some food that I know the birds like ( suet blocks ) and a few perches around so that they had somewhere to sit around, I lined the camera up (pre-focused), set up a remote trigger and got on with some work, keeping a corner of an eye open waiting for the opportune moment ...

Five hours and this shot sums up the level of success that I had in capturing birds - e.g. absolutely none. I saw one bird in those five hours and it landed on the suet, which is out of shot to the left ...

Still, it's all set up outside now, the birds, hopefully will get used to it, and it's not as if I don't have another day coming up where I can sit with the trigger set up and get on with work, so watch this spade ...
