Idiot seeks village...
Coming down from Glasgow a couple of weeks ago we had the misfortune to meet an idiot looking for a village. Quite happy cruising at 70 in lane two, passing a stream of lorries near the M73/M74 junction we picked up a clown in a red Audi who decided to drive alongside us in lane 3 at exactly the same speed for the next few miles. Giving him - or her - the benefit of the doubt, I assumed they were on cruise control same as me. Then a big fast van flashed him to get out of the way - lane 3 was empty ahead of him - and he wouldn't. The van then tailgated him until he was forced to accelerate and pull in front of me and nearly took my front wing with him.
I'm a very tolerant driver, I honestly am - so I lifted off and left him get away from me. But he had other plans and he jammed his brakes on forcing me to pull into lane 3 to avoid hitting him. This dangerous behaviour went on three times at speeds of 70-75mph. He overtook at 75, braked down to 50ish and got progressively slower until I overtook. At one point the vehicles in lane 1 were undertaking us! He then made a mess of pulling out in front of me and nearly went under the tailgate of the lorry in front of him. I looked in my mirror and saw the traffic behind him scatter across three lanes! I drove off and our village idiot then moved into lane 1 and turned off for Hamilton.
What on earth was all that about? I suspected a 'cash for crash' scam and decided there and then to install a dash-cam. It arrived today and I hope to fit it this weekend.
