...New Holland Honeyeaters are quick off the mark and a tad flighty when disturbed.
BUT standing statue still with camera poised finally payed dividends after a flurry of blurs!
Honeyeaters are a diverse group of Australian birds belonging to the family Meliphagidae. Many of the genera have a brush tipped tongue fringed with bristles which soak up nectar and are primarily nectar feeders but do stock up on insect protein when needed.
They compete with the much bigger wattlebirds that bombard the flowers of the grevillea hedge but sneak in and out like pickpockets before the big boys see them!
