Don't worry, the books will be reclaiming their rightful place soon.

I spent most of the say with a group of visitors from South Africa who were looking at our learning and teaching spaces. This included a tour of various rooms and developments, including the major refurbishment of the main library which is nearing completion, and amongst other things has let a lot more natural light into the building.

I thought the empty shelves made for a powerful image.
