St Paul’s Anglican Church, Paihia
A quiet day today pottering around Paihia. Very few photos taken actually. This is a historical one. St Paul’s is not that old being built in 1925 from Kawakawa stone. It is built on the site of the first church built in 1823 when Henry Williams, sponsored by the Christian Mission Society., came to Paihia. He wasn’t the first missionary but he was the most persevering. He died in 1867 having left his mark on the Maori people. The monument on the left is erected by the Maori Church congregation in his honour.
I see I caught one of the parishioners taking in the vacuum cleaner to clean the carpet.
