All aboard the R. Tucker Thompson

Today we went sailing in a tall ship around the Bay of Islands.
Very calm so only two sails went up and we were powered by Diesel engine. Run by a Sail Training Trust it is a not for profit trust with the money from commercial trips being used to take local young people out sailing for a week. They come back different people after manning the ship and learning the ropes.
We sailed for about two hours stopping to be astonished by a pod of dolphins before having a bbq lunch and heading home.
Some of the Operatunity singers in the younger age bracket climbed the rigging, and went out on the bowsprit.
Before all this excitement we went across to Russell and listened to them sing in the oldest church in New Zealand and watched the very first printing press used to print bibles in the Maori language print out an etching used then.
Pompallier House was where the Marist Brothers set up in 1836. The process of making paper, leather covers, and all the paraphernalia required is still used today, but only for guided tours.
