Peaceful Resting Place
This beautiful old tree with its rugged bark stands sentinel in a country graveyard.
I attend a party/shower to celebrate Bella’s birth that was held at her maternal grandmother’s country home.
After lunch, we walked to the nearby cemetery. Some of the tombstones date back to the mid-1800’s, a long time ago for us west coasters...(to those of you living in places settled many centuries ago, this is the recent past!).
Many of M’s family are buried here, including her grandfather, just a couple months ago. It was just the kind of activity that might happen in my own family...wander to the graveyard during a break in the rain, to see if Grandfather’s headstone had been put in place.
It was an outing to remember those who have passed and to enjoy each other’s company and the shared moment.
