seeing red

Red Crossbill, that is. And actually I heard him before I saw him. Talk about a noisy eater! He was shredding through the pine cones in no time. 
Then I heard an unusual (to me) twittering on the ground and discovered a pair of crossbills enjoying some old snow in the shadows. See them in the extras. The female is yellow.
