The Greek island of Santorini
Except it isn't an island really.
It was until the volcano blew, now all that's left is a crater several miles accross and parts of the rim of the volcano protruding above the sea.
Mind you, these are very high and extremely steep and have enough space on top for very small towns and villages to perch precariously.
They are so steep that the best way to get to the top from sea level is by cable car, or by riding on a donkey, poor creatures have to walk up a track complete with hair pin bends... I can just imagine them eyeing up prospective customers as they approach and thinking 'Oh, no, hope I don't get HIM' and frantically calculating what number they are in the line up......!
