Training Day

I dropped some of my father's naval photos into Winchester Photographic to get them scanned in so I can reprint them. They will be put up in his room at the care home and my mother can keep the originals safe. The originals are mounted on card that is bigger than our home scanner so I needed a bigger machine.
I walked round for a while and walked back to the car along the river Itchen. Some of the Hampshire Fire & Rescue team were waist high in the river. They said it was not cold; I don't believe them - but they were properly dressed for the occasion. I asked if I could take some photos and they kindly said yes and I stood and watched for a while. Not really sure what they were training for but it involved walking upstream poking the river bed with a pole (you can see the pole has another use as a handy rest) and at some point laying back and floating back down with the current to this bridge. These guys are waiting for the next one to come back down.
Although they have bright yellow or orange suits on the greyness of the day seemed to mean that to me this looked better in B&W.
