Life in a Northern Town

Fun in the snow

I was in a foul mood as I had to miss our lunch out because the boiler at our rented house was kaputt (I really don't have any luck with boilers), the tenant has had to move out to stay with friends, and the plumber could come out today. He was scheduled to call at 12 so I popped to the park on my way to the supermarket - it was foggy and gently snowing - very atmospheric.

David has purloined my car for the weekend so I was in the skid-mobile. I came out of Sainsbury's to find HUGE wet snowflakes falling and knew I was in trouble. The road home is in extras - absolutely no chance in a Mercedes, especially an automatic. Two knights in shining armour pushed me halfway up then I skidded sideways the rest of the way home swearing a lot.  Had I not got 8 bags of shopping in the boot I would have abandoned the car and walked the last mile.

Then the plumber cancelled as he was stuck in his van.

Got home to find a card from DHL, who have been failing to deliver my new iPad all week, and who had texted to advise it would be delivered on Monday, saying they had made their final delivery attempt and now I will have to go to Manchester to collect it. GRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another extra of my favourite tree.

Roast lamb and a bottle of Chardonnay that I won in the raffle yesterday - free wine is always the best.
