Rose
A detail from the flowers in yesterday's photo. Looking into a rose flower you see a pattern of randomly enfolded petals that seems so perfect that it couldn't be improved upon, for the same reason, I suppose, that the curve of a shell seems so beautifully balanced. The natural world seems to be good at this, or I perhaps I should say that humans are good are recognizing it. I like this sort of image in greyscale - colour, however beautiful, can sometimes be almost too much to take in. In this case it was a delicate lime-green, so the image was already nearly monochrome.
