With feeling
I have been confusing everybody again today by back-bliping to this weekend but 12 years ago when we had the biggest dump of snow on one night, that I have experienced. Two days of snow. First a little, then a big 50cm in 6 hours.
It was so much that we could not possibly get the cars from the garage to the road, not even the Jeep. We had to be dug out by a farmer with his four-wheel drive tractor and a large shovel. My old two wheel drive John Deere and narrow bucket would not have had a chance either.
Today though the beast's Siberian air died down but only after the morning dog walk which was again freezing at around -10°C. When I went out in the Cabrio, it was hovering around 0°C.
Had to push the horse's muck heap together as we are a bit short of space. Farmer Franz for whatever reason couldn't manage to empty it in autumn, so it's getting pretty full.
Feel so sorry for the ever so industrious worms that despite the -16°C of the last few days, keep busy doing their valuable work. When I had finished, went around the edges to make sure any exposed ones were buried again and could get back to work.
Alongside bees, worms, at least of the animal kingdom, are vital for our existence. We certainly value ours.
And the good old JD did her work perfectly. The weight on the back is still necessary as the concrete around the muck heap is covered in 3 or 4 inches of ice and without it, would have no traction when the bucket was full.
By the way, free compost available for all Blipers. Can load your trailers. Limited time availability, so do hurry. If required in sacks, then it's "Fill your own".
