Berry Picker

A new kid on the block today.

A female blackcap on the feeders and a first for us here, taking a partiality to the berry suet pellets I'd scattered liberally around as it's tough out there now!. She is so dainty with a gorgeous red/brown hat which I think is very appealing.

Reading up on them they can be summer visitors but down here they do breed in the west and south nesting in low bushes, rose briars or brambles. Their nests are frail, being attached by handles to the surrounding branches. I'm rather hoping it sticks around for the summer to breed here.

Having driven #1 daughter home in the snow using a convoluted route due to road closures because of snow drifts and accidents, we tootled round Broadway which was looking pretty in the snow. I always think the orange cotswold stone combined with the snow make an attractive combo! I would say that Afternoon Tea at the Lygon Arms is a must if you are ever down here especially as the building is steeped in history. See Extras. Not for us today though as we had to get home for Hubs to tackle the downstairs radiator which is now sitting on the hall floor looking caput ....
