Dogwood
Try as I might, I can't seem to get a good photograph of this dogwood. I was hoping that the snow would help to show off the reds and yellows of the bark, but I'm not sure it's worked really. I think I might need a longer lens to get back from the subject without losing it in the frame, but this is at the long end of the LX3's reach (I decided it was too cold for the Fuji, which is only marginally longer in any case). But in these conditions the garden worthiness of Cornus Midwinter fire really does become obvious, in spite of its dullness for the rest of the year. It's slowly spreading, so in a year or two it should be looking even more effective, although we can't let it encroach too much on the rest of an already crowded border.
